The newly-appointed Creative Director of Moschino, Davide Renne, has passed away suddenly aged 46. It was announced this morning that the established designer died from a “sudden illness” on Friday afternoon, released in a statement made by Moschino’s parent company, Aeffe.
“There are no words to describe the pain we are experiencing at this dramatic time,” Massimo Ferretti, chairman of Moscino’s parent company, Aeffe, said in a statement.”Davide joined us only a few days ago, when a sudden illness took him from us too soon. We still can’t believe what happened. With Davide, we were working on an ambitious project in an atmosphere of enthusiasm and optimism for the future,” he continued. “Even though he was only with us for a very short time, Davide was able to immediately make himself loved and respected. Today we are left with the responsibility of carrying on what his imagination and creativity had only envisioned. Our deepest sympathies go to his family and friends,” he concluded.
Renne’s unexpected passing comes shortly after he was positioned at the helm of the Italian luxury House on November 1, 2023. He was meant to succeed Jeremy Scott after his 10-year tenure, leaving a lasting legacy following his departure.
Renne was scheduled to make his runway debut at Milan Fashion Week in February 2024. The designer had significant experience, having led the womenswear department at Gucci for two decades. The Tuscan-born creative worked under Alessandro Michele and Frida Giannini after four years at Alessandro Dell’Acqua’s No. 21.
It is left uncertain who will take the helm of Moschino or if the brand will go through a short pause while looking for new leadership. Stay tuned for more information coming soon.
